Elissa relocated from Victoria in late 2014 where she managed a women’s health, fertility and pregnancy clinic from inception in 2009. Supporting women to maintain optimal health and harmony through all stages of life has been a passion of Elissa's, and she has particular experience assisting women through pregnancy and helping ease discomforts and symptoms that arise from nourishing a new life.
As a mother, TCM practitioner and Birth Attendant, Elissa has a deep understanding of fertility and pre and post partum patient's. Because of her own experiences professionally and personally she has a special interest with complicated pregnancies and understands the challenges of early motherhood.
In most cases, a women’s innate body wisdom will guide them toward what they need during this time, and Elissa sees her role as gently supporting the body to maintain optimal function where necessary. She believes good preparation is key, and has a strong focus on pre conception preparation and care to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.
In addition to her qualifications in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine, Elissa completed training as a Birth Attendant with Rhea Dempsey, Natural Fertility Education, and is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Medicine in mental health and is looking forward to furthering her knowledge in this area and assisting people with digestive complaints and mental health issues such as stress, anxiety and depression.
Elissa uses high quality Japanese needles for comfort and efficacy. Providing a nurturing, relaxing treatment is an important component in establishing balance, health and harmony for busy women. Cupping, moxabustion, gua sha, dietary and lifestyle advice may be included in a consultation, and Chinese herbal medicines, essential oils and nutritional supplements may also be prescribed. Elissa graduated from Victoria University with an Honours degree in Chinese Medicine, is a member of the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS).
