Deb Manoy
I have a Masters in Gestalt therapy and certificate in Hakomi. I have also studied Sandplay and somatic based approaches for working with trauma. Over the past 6 years I have been studying different modalities and expanding my skills. I feel I have a lot to offer with twenty years experience in the field of working with people. I am passionate about supporting clients where they are at, working holistically and with a lot of compassion I can support you to have more awareness, and build more resilience.
I have a gentle way of combining my skills and knowledge of Psychotherapy, Cranio Sacral Therapy and Yoga to create a safe space for you, the client. I have a deep reverence and respect for the fragility of being human. I feel the privilege of sitting with you and deeply honour your vulnerability, and the difficulties/challenges we all face at times. I create a very safe space for everyone to be witnessed and seen. When we work together it is collaborative. I am creative, experimental and extremely compassionate in my approach. I am skilled at knowing how to tailor the session to what is appropriate for each client.
One of the things I love about Gestalt and Hakomi, are they both invite us to be present with what is emerging, the pain, the joy and everything in between. As we work together, you will find your own way of being more authentic in the world because you are getting to know yourself more intimately and recognising your needs more fully. I have a deep fascination for parts work. We all have many different parts/voices in our heads and I am really curious about welcoming all those parts, the parts we love, the parts we don’t love, the parts we don’t know exist and getting to know them in a non-judgemental and loving way.
I work specifically with clients with anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, trauma grief and loss, anger, relationship issues, low self-esteem and boundaries issues. I am not currently working with couples or complex trauma.
Over the past few years, I have been working at two highly esteemed rehabilitation centres and more recently in private practice. I have also been working and supporting people with disabilities at Red Inc (Realising Every Dream) doing therapy and teaching yoga. I am also open to facilitating therapeutic and psycho-educational group work.
Cranio Sacral Therapy
I have been practising Cranio Sacral Therapy for the past 6 years and have a deep love and respect for this modality. Cranio Sacral therapy works gently and effectively with the cerebrospinal fluid, musculo skeletal system and energetic body. It is deeply nourishing to the nervous system, adrenals and organs of the body. For the past couple of years I have worked regularly with clients with anxiety, depression and PTSD, using my compassion, intuition and knowledge to encourage some healing for the mind and heart and to help rebalance the nervous system. Cranio also works beautifully with headaches, neck and back pain/tension, pelvis instability, sacral imbalance, hips, frozen shoulder, hormone imbalance, pregnancy, vertigo and many other conditions.
I have a curiosity in how pain is held in our body and how we can begin to release this pain. My intention is to allow a gentle unfolding to re establish a sense of grace, ease and healing.
Yoga
I have been involved in yoga for the past 20 years. I have spent much time in India studying and have run workshops and retreats in Bali, India, Thailand, Australia and London. I owned and ran my own yoga school, The Dharma Shala (Sydney) for 8 years. Over the past few years I have immersed myself in the practice of mindfulness, which I share in my teaching. I have a strong focus on restorative yoga and encourage my students to feel into what they need from the practice by listening to the body and honouring its wisdom.
